What is a semiconductor?
Objects in life can be roughly divided into three categories according to their conductivity: conductors, semiconductors, and insulators.
Conductors: have a relatively high conductivity, ranging from 104S/cm to 106S/cm, such as metals such as aluminum, silver, and copper.
Insulators: have a very low conductivity, ranging from about 20-18S/cm to 10-8S/cm, such as fused quartz and glass.
Semiconductors: Semiconductors refer to materials whose conductivity at room temperature is between that of conductors and insulators, such as germanium or silicon semiconductors.
