What is a transistor?

The full name of a transistor should be semiconductor transistor, also known as bipolar transistor, crystal triode, which is a semiconductor device that controls current. Its function is to amplify weak signals into electrical signals with larger amplitude values, and it is also used as a contactless switch.

The transistor is one of the basic semiconductor components, has the function of current amplification, and is the core component of electronic circuits. A transistor is made of two PN junctions very close to each other on a semiconductor substrate. The two PN junctions divide the entire semiconductor into three parts. The middle part is the base area, and the two sides are the emitter area and the collector area. There are two arrangements of PNP and NPN.

According to the function, a transistor can be divided into: switch tube, power tube, Darlington tube, photosensitive tube, etc.
